NEWS #14 – 2nd Anniversary Show – 25-05-12 – Preview

Tomorrow night will see the 14th show for the North East Wrestling Society, it also happens to be their 2nd Anniversary.

*NEWS British Championship Match*
‘The Mexican Sensation’ El Ligero (c) vs ‘The Tyneside Titan’ Lowthian
Since winning the title one year ago at the 1AS, El Ligero has been a fighting champion, seeing off challenges from many directions.  He defeated Martin Kirby, the man he first bested for the title, in both an Iron Man Match & a Mexican Street Fight; ‘The Showstealer’ Nathan Cruz, Julian Werther Chambers (in a Title vs Career match)  and Colossus Kennedy.  He also holds a DQ victory over Lowthian, in a NEWS Sanctioned Title match at Southside Wrestling, after his SWE rival, the masked Ego Dragon interfered in the match.  Almost 8 months to the day after they first faced off at SWE, these 2 superstars go one on one again, with an as yet unknown sanction.
El Ligero will have his work cut out for him more now than ever before as Lowthian is undefeated in NEWS in 2011 and 2012.  The Tyneside Titan has also been a sought after competitor, traveling the country to face off against some of the biggest stars british wrestling has to offer.  In NEWS alone he holds victories over Ross Saxon, BT Gunn, PAC, Bingo Balance, Iceman and Cameron Kraze, as well as plowing through 6 competitors with ease in the Lowthain Invitational Gauntlet.  He also faced off against Martin Kirby early in his NEWS career, it was a losing effort, however the beating he gave Kirby in that match made him realize that Lowthian is someone you want as an ally not an enemy.

Can El Ligero defeat his biggest challenge to date or will Lowthian get his first taste of championship gold?

*NEWS Tag Team Title Match*
*Handicap Match*
Fast & Furious member AJ Anderson (c) vs  Full Pack (‘Heat throb’ Iain Robinson & Micky Long)
Fast & Furious and Full Pack have faced off in NEWS many a time, both in singles & tag contests,  since their epic Tag Team Ladder Match in February last year, a match most people will agree has been one of the best matches in the 2 year history of NEWS.  The current tally stands at Fast & Furious with 4 wins and Full Pack with 3.  This is not the first time AJ Anderson has defended the titles alone as his partner Max Heat has been on the receiving end of a number of vicious beatings to keep him out of competition.  Can AJ retain alone or will the threat of the Dream Sequence be too much for him, giving Full Pack the titles that have been just out of their grasp for the last 15 months.

TNA star Doug Williams vs Rampage Brown
Returning to NEWS for his second outing, TNA star Doug William takes on a man who is well known in the british scene, holding a number of titles in various promotions, he is also making his NEWS Debut, former WWE contracted Superstar Rampage Brown.

‘Seconds Out’ Tony Spitfire vs ‘The Showstealer’ Nathan Cruz
A rematch from NEWS 13 – Unlucky For Some, the young Cruz wants to avenge his loss to the veteran Spitfire.   A fan favorite, Tony Spitfire  regularly wows audiences with his technical mastery of traditional British wrestling, literally tying his opponents in knots.  However he is not afraid of leaving his feet, previously defeating Cruz with a top rope flying cross body.  Can Cruz succeed where he failed before and get a victory over the veteran or will Spitfire again come out on top?

Cameron Kraze & ‘Mr Bad Attitude’ Martin Kirby vs The Dragon Ryders (‘The Rank Outsider’ Robbie Ryder & Lewis ‘The Dragon’ Chambers)
Making his return to the ring after a back injury, Lewis Chambers  again join forces with Robbie Ryder to take on the Team of Cameron Kraze & Martin Kirby.

Also to appear on the show the menacing duo of Jack Norton & John Britain, collectively known as Dead Reckoning.  Who will step up to the challenge of these two 6’5, 300lb monsters?

The show will take place at Peterlee Leisure Centre tomorrow night, doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7.  Tickets are £8 for children & £10 for adults. Tickets are available on the door. https://www.facebook.com/events/245979565489270/
