BritWres Round Up Issue #2 By Dave Bodymore

Well here we are again! It’s the second in our weekly round ups of all the news and results for the last week in British Wrestling.

We start this week with Preston City Wrestling who made several announcements for Supershow 4 which will run over May 30th and 31st. They announced that Mad Man Manson will face Noam Dar and El Ligero will take on Low Ki on the Friday night. Then at the Saturday day time show Uhaa Nation will face Low Ki, Kris Travis will battle The Hurricane and Juventud Guerrera, Mad Man Manson, Danny Hope and Al Snow will face off in a 4 way match up. Their biggest announcement this week was the former WWE star and current TNA ‘investor’ MVP will be at the Supershow.

Highlights of Martin Kirby’s challenge for the ROH World Television title were shown on ROH TV last weekend and ROH announced that the match with Ciampa will be included, in full, as an extra on their upcoming Supercard of Honor DVD.

Revolution Pro Wrestling continued to try and establish themselves in the number one spot this week as the revealed that current ROH and PWG World champion Adam Cole will be at Summer Sizzler on June 15th. They also announced that Doug Williams will face Dave Mastiff at Make Or Break 2014 in Birmingham on May 10th and they will return to Sittingbourne on May 25th.

An injury to MK McKinnan forced a change of schedule for Southside at the beginning of this week. Pete Dunne has replaced him in next weekend’s Speed King tournament and he will be taking on Noam Dar in the first round. Southside’s week continued with announcements that Robbie X will be X-Pac’s tag team partner in their tag match with Project Ego at X Factor in Nottingham on May 11th and Hardcore Holly will be returning to Southside on October 25th, when Southside bring their 4th Anniversary show to Stevenage.

With Speed King 2014 coming up this weekend, Southside have released the 2014 tournament T-shirt which can be bought from their website for £15.00.

Kamikaze Pro return on April 27th with Sky’s the Limit where Ryan Smile will be defending his Kamikaze Pro title against ‘The Pride of Wales’ Eddie Dennis.

It’s been a quiet few months for the Attack Pro Wrestling crew, but on May 24th they will be back again with Press Start: Level 2. The first Press Start show, which is video game themed, was a YouTube sensation and gained the promotion mass recognition. They are taking video game suggestions, so if you have any that you think they could make work get to their Facebook or Twitter and suggest away!

Undoubtedly, this week Progress have been a focal point for most British Wrestling fans. Last Sunday they presented ENDVR:4 where Shen Woo beat Lucha Dave and Chuck Mambo beat Mark Hendry to advance into the Natural Progression Series. Steve Burden beat former tag partner The Warden and The Swords of Essex, with Joey Lakeside filling in for Paul Robinson, overcame the Bhangra Knights to secure their spot in the Number one contenders tag team match at Chapter 13. The Omega’s 5 minute open challenge was accepted by Tyson James, who lost in 2 minutes 45 seconds and the injured Ali Armstrong demanded the remaining time to try and even the score. Omega avoided Armstrong but then attacked him after the final bell. In the main event Eddie Dennis beat Josh Bodom and Pastor William Eavor in a triple threat match.

Monday saw Progress management make the big announcement that Prince Devitt’s debut at Chapter 13 will be against Zack Sabre Jr, who is flying in especially from Japan for the match. And then midweek they announced that Progress will be bringing wrestling to Sonisphere this year!

IPW:UK made several announcements this week for today’s Battle Royale show. These included adding Chuck Mambo, Sakura Lily, Sammy Smooth, Robert Rose and Mexican Eagle to the Battle Royal. They also announced that Jonny Storm wil defend his All England title on the VIP pre-show against Mark Haskins.

They also revealed 6 new T-shirts available to purchase at their shows or on their website. These T-shirts are for IPW:UK, London Riots, Mexican Eagle, Will Ospreay, Grado and Jimmy Havoc.

IPW:UK will also be returning to Kent on 25th May and have announced a main event of Zack Sabre jr vs Kyle O’Reilly and that the show will feature Uhaa Nation and German star ‘Bad Bones’ John Klinger.

DOA Wrestling UK will be holding a 20 person Golden Chance Rumble at an upcoming show, with the winner earning a shot at the DOA Heavyweight title. With an entrant to be revealed every 5 days on their Facebook page, the first entrant is Jack Burchill, who is a regular for Pro Wrestling 4 U.

Last week it was revealed that Future Pro Wrestling would have Chavo Guerrero at Trick or Treat IV on October 24th and this week they revealed a second International Star to appear, Hardcore Holly.

EAW announced that Andy Reign, of The Revolution, will face Mister Monster, of The Resistance, in a Monsters Ball match on May 4th in Rushden and that the main event of their Yaxley show on April 26th will be a tables match.

Pro Wrestling Chaos had their fifth show last weekend with The Magnums, Damien Dunne, Wild Boar, Jeckel, The Doomsday Killers and Mark Andrews coming out victors. Other wrestlers at the show were T-bone, Eddie Dennis, Morgan Webster and Pete Dunne.

Tidal Championship Wrestling Released the Kraken this past weekend as well, crowning their first champion. Liam Lazarus beat Dara Diablo, Nixon Newell beat Lexi Reckless, Wild Boar overcame Sebastian Radclaw(Who was fresh from his trip to Thailand), Rampage Brown beat Jonny Storm and The Proven beat Project Ego. The Attack 24/7 title was again defended by Mark Andrews who beat Pete Dunne in a scheduled match, however Nixon Newell came out and beat Andrews for the title post match but her reign was short as Wild Boar hit her with the package piledriver to win the 24/7 title. In the Main Event El Ligero became the first Tidal Wrestling champion, beating Marty Scurll in the process. Unfortunately Marty Scurll did suffer a dislocated shoulder during the match and we would like to wish Marty a speedy recovery.

Back in the Midlands, Leicester Championship wrestling made 3 announcements for May 10th’s Mayhem show. The Predators will face Q2(Ryan Smile & Damian Dunne), Barricade will take on his teacher Stixx and LJ Heron will fight Jurgen Heimlich.

In Scotland, Insane Championship Wrestling announced that their Show in London on May 4th is now sold out. They also made two match announcements for Show me your Lizard on April 27th. The New Age Kliq will face Wolfgang, Jimmy Havoc and The Bucky Boys and Noam Dar will take on Mark Coffey.

ICW’s sister promotion ICW: Fierce Females held a smaller show entitled ‘Coming of Age’ last weekend. Viper and Sammi Jayne beat Debbie Sharpe and Bete Noire respectively in the first semi finals of the Number One contenders tournament. Sara beat Leah Owens, Carmel beat Kasey Owens and Courtney beat Fiona Fraser. In the main event Sammi Jayne beat Viper to become the number one contender to the Fierce Females title.

Staying in Scotland, Scottish Wrestling Entertainment had disappointing news this week as Terry Funk had to withdraw from Hell For Lycra due to a television commitment in Texas. They did announce that Dennis Stamp, most famous for not being booked in Beyond the Mat, will be at this years Hell for Lycra. They also announced that at Hell Bound on August 23rd Grado and Colt Cabana will be appearing.

SWE also held a live event on the 18th April. Christopher Syant, who joined our own Magic Mark this week for an excellent special, beat Martyn Stallion, Kevin Williams beat Scott Renwick, Ian Ambrose and Sammii won against Viper and Debbie, Glen Dunbar beat Jam O’Malley, Jay the Jackal beat Randy Valentine and in the Battle Royal to end the show, Martyn Stallion picked up the win.

Shropshire Wrestling Alliance gave us two announcements for their May 9th Uprising show. The SWA title will be on the line in a rematch as Joey Sanchez faces Joey Ozbourne and Tyler Bate will take on Ryan Smile in a 2 out of 3 falls match.

On May 31st KAPOW will return to London when they come to Greenwich. The show will feature James Mason & Infinity vs Major Lee Buff & Marcus Broome and a 4 way Dynamite Division match with Rishi Ghosh, Will Ospreay, Dan Head and Chuck Cyrus facing off.

EWW, in Hastings, announced two new matches for their Survival of the Sickest show on May 24th. AWOL will compete against ‘The LadyKiller’ Phillip Bateman and Skarlett & Erin Angel will face EWW Ladies champion Destiny & Amazon in tag team action.

Futureshock Wrestling returned to Prestwich this weekend for Underground 4. T-Bone beat Soner Durson, Nordic Warrior won against Mark Massa, Jack Gallagher submitted Drake Younger, Dave Rayne and Lana Austin lost to Xander Cooper and Danni Hunter, The Futureshock’s Got Talent ended with the Blackpool Blonds hitting a double DDT on Melanie Price whilst The Models were taped up and in the main event Zack Gibson retained his Futureshock title against Cyanide in a ladder match.

New promotion Southcoast Wrestling will debut in Bournemouth on May 23rd and announced the first match for the show this week. ‘Flash’ Morgan Webster will face ‘Fantastic’ Jack Fox.

Dragon Gate UK announced the semi main event for night one this week as World 1 International members Ricochet & Rich Swann will face Team UK’s Mark Haskins and Marty Scurll. They also revealed that the Lion Kid will be a part of this tour.

Elsewhere, Zack Sabre Jr continued his success in Japan as he and Ogawa won back their GHC Junior Heavyweight tag titles at the first time of asking. Kay Lee Ray and Nikki Storm both had successful tours with Shimmer in the United States this past weekend.
